Hemp root is the foundation of a healthy plant
It should be noted right away that the root of marijuana is not very sprawling. In free conditions, without restrictions in the form of a pot, the root system forms a kind of wedge-shaped shape, which can go down to half a meter. In natural conditions, there are also species whose roots are capable of going underground to a depth of about two meters, while also giving branches.
Healthy and disease-free cannabis root is white. If small brown specks become visible, this means that the soil was of poor quality and provoked the appearance of a disease or cannabis fungal mold.
The root system has three main functions:
Strong retention of the bush in the ground;
Active absorption of mines and water;
Accumulation of nutrients necessary for plant life.
The root system is often attacked by pests, which are often found in the ground, if it was simply recruited somewhere in the forest. Therefore, it is recommended to buy already prepared and cleaned soil in order to avoid threats to the root system in the future.
In healthy plants, the marijuana stem is almost perfectly straight. At the same time, closer to the root, it is almost completely rounded, but rising higher, it acquires several expressive faces (4 or 6). The entire surface of the stem is covered with small villi, which are covered with a glandular substance during growth.
Depending on the variety of cannabis, the stem height may vary. Sativa and sativa-based hybrids are generally superior to indica varieties. Some wild Sativa varieties have a stem length of up to 6 meters. And there are generally dwarf plants, the stems of which are less than half a meter in height.

Marijuana leaves are not only a famous symbol
The cannabis leaf is recognizable all over the world for its distinctive shape. It has become an integral part of culture and marketing. But we will look at cannabis leaves from a biological point of view.
A healthy leaf has 5-7 leaflets with characteristic teeth at the edges. Different types of leaves may have their own distinctive characteristics. Sativa leaves are thin and oblong with rich color. Indica has shorter leaves and often touch. The color is deep dark green. The subspecies Ruderalis is characterized by the similarity of leaves for both sativa and indica. The three central leaves are usually large and long, while the other lateral leaves are much smaller. Color – light green.
Due to the leaves, plants carry out photosynthesis, feed on sunlight. Active gas exchange and respiration are also provided. The foliage absorbs oxygen and then produces carbon dioxide.
Cannabis flowers can be male or female. And if at the very beginning of development it is almost impossible to distinguish them even with great experience behind them, then over time, strong buds appear on male plants. The inflorescences of marijuana in male plants are looser than in female ones, and on the flowers you can see 5 sepals and the same number of stamens.
In female plants, the inflorescences are more spike-shaped, they have noticeably more foliage, since the internodes are close. Cones and bumps are the prerogative of female plants. They are nothing more than non-pollinated cannabis buds. The main function of flowers is reproduction, but growers should not be allowed to pollinate, as the yield in this case will be extremely low.
Inflorescences and buds emit a rather strong odor, and its degree and shades depend on the variety that is grown. Therefore, in some cases it is necessary to install air filters indoors. Although you can opt for low-smelling cannabis varieties. With them, as a rule, there is an order of magnitude less hassle when growing, and the quality of the final product is still at a high level.
They are also often called offspring. They are also fruits – gray-green bivalve seeds that have the shape of an egg or an ellipse. The seeds of different types of cannabis may differ slightly. The upper shell is either completely smooth or ribbed. The main tasks of seeds are reproduction and distribution of the species.
In general, the structure of hemp differs little from the structure of other plants. There are all the same elements here, they are arranged in the same order, they perform similar functions. You do not need to have a baggage of knowledge in botany in order to easily determine where and which part of the plant is located, how it looks and what functions it performs. But at the same time, this knowledge, albeit elementary, should be available to any grower. You do not need to understand all the intricacies of genetics at the molecular level, but at least the basics of botany will definitely not be superfluous. This, among other things, will make it possible to provide proper care for the bushes, a competent choice of pots, set irrigation schedules, the degree of blowdown, etc. After all, all this largely depends on the structure of cannabis and its characteristics.
